TetraSodium Iminodisuccinate (CAS 144538-83-0) is the tetrasodium salt of iminodisuccinic acid—an amino-polycarboxylate that forms highly stable water-soluble complexes with Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Fe³⁺, Cu²⁺, Zn²⁺ and other multivalent metal ions. Unlike EDTA, IDS-Na₄ biodegrades into innocuous by-products within 28 days (OECD 301 E), making it the first chelate to earn the EU “Readily Biodegradable” label.
